Dhaka - Tens of thousands of mourners Monday bade farewell in tears to Bangladeshi army officers killed in last week's mutiny by border guards, officials said.

Members of the bereaved families, politicians, army officers and others joined the funeral and a memorial parade before the bodies of 49 members of Bangladesh Army and a wife of an officer were laid to rest amid full state honour.

President Zillur Rahman, who attended the prayer session at the National Parade Ground in Dhaka, paid floral respect on behalf of the nation to the slain officers' coffins wrapped in Bangladesh national and army flags.

Dhaka, Mar 2 : The funeral or the Namaz-e-janaza of the 48 Bangladesh army officers, whose bodies were found during a rescue operation at the Bangladesh Rifles
(BDR) headquarters, was held at the National Parade Square on Monday.

Forty-two of them were laid to rest at about 1:00pm at the military graveyard at Banani with state honour while the bodies of eight others were sent to their village homes for burial.

Dhaka, Mar 2 : Pakistan will go ahead with a tour of Bangladesh due to start later this week despite a mutiny in the paramilitary headquarters, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official has said on Monday.

Pakistan scheduled to arrive on Saturday for a 16-day trip to play two Twenty20 and five one-day internationals against the hosts.

“We have not received any message to postpone or defer the tour so far. So the series will go as planned,” The News quoted BCB media chief Jalal Yunus, as saying.

Dhaka  - Authorities in Bangladesh are leveling charges against more than one thousand troops Sunday, three days after a mutiny in the headquarters of paramilitary border guards left scores of army officers dead, officials said.

Police commander Nabo Jyoti Kisha lodged the charges against troopers led by six junior officers of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) force, accusing them of rebellion against their commanders.

The charges accuse the troops of premeditation in the murder of army officers and their spouses with firearms and explosives.

Dhaka, Mar 1 : The Bangladesh Government will ask the law ministry to form a special tribunal immediately to try those guilty of criminal acts during the mutiny at the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) headquarters.

According to the latest decision, Local Government Minister Syed Ashraful Islam said the government has some evidence which indicates the involvement of people outside the BDR.

Dhaka  - The government of Bangladesh announced Saturday that it intends to prosecute members of a paramilitary border force that mutinied this week by special tribunal, as more graves of the mutineers victims were discovered.

"The law ministry was asked to enact laws for the speedy trial of the killers and looters," Syed Ashraful Islam, the Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives minister, told a press briefing after an emergency meeting of the council of ministers and senior leaders of the ruling Awami League party.
