Punjab HC stays custodial interrogation of Amarinder Singh

Amarinder SinghChandigarh, Sept 15 : A Division Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the custodial interrogation of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in connection with a graft case registered by the State’s Vigilance Bureau.

Justices Adarsh Goel and Ajay Tewari also issued notices to the Punjab Assembly through its Secretary and directed him to file the reply on or before October 31.

Last week, the Bench had reserved its judgment on Singh''s plea seeking a stay in the case and on his expulsion from the Punjab Legislative Assembly.

Country''s voluntary group organises rally for AIDS awareness

Chandigarh, Sept 13 : A voluntary organization in Chandigarh took out a rally on Saturday to promote awareness about deadly virus, AIDS.

The rally with the theme, ''All Rights, Women Rights'', was organised by voluntary organization named Indian Network for People living with HIV/AIDS (INP+) which has 22 state level networks representing 1,25,000 members in the country. 

The members of the organization asked AIDS control organizations to take HIV positive people into confidence and make sure better availability of first and second line drugs for treatment of the disease.

A resolution to his effect was moved by ruling Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Harish Rai Dhanda and passed in the

Assembly amid protests by slogan-shouting Congress members who boycotted the proceedings.
