Absconding Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Resurfaces

Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, who had been absconding for nearly a month, resurfaced at Jaipur on Sunday. As it turned out, he had married Anuradha Bali, the 35-year-old divorcee, secretly and had also converted to Islam. Bali is a former law officer from Haryana.

Talking over television from hiding, Chander Mohan confessed that he had taken a second wife, for which he had to change his religion. “My new name is Chand Mohammad and my wife’s name is Fiza,” he said. “I was attracted towards Islam since childhood. I have known her (Anuradha Bali) for a long time and now we are happily married.”

After his confession Chander Mohan was sacked by the state’s Congress government today.

Rohtak wrestlers in high demand during election time

Haryana MapRohtak, Nov. 20 : It’s election time and the wrestlers from Rohtak are in high demand. It may sound a bit strange to many people elsewhere but at least not here.

After all any political leader gains attention by the number of musclemen he or she is accompanied by while electioneering. And, many candidates facing elections in neighbouring States of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh perceive the wrestlers as a must.

Following such a demand, almost every other Akhara in Rohtak region in Haryana today presents a barren look. Although not much activity is witnessed at the Akharas but no one is complaining.

Biotechnology training centre in Haryana approved

New Delhi, Nov 20 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for the establishment of the UNESCO Regional Centre for Training and Education in Biotechnology at Faridabad, Haryana with the revised budget of Rs. 99.55 crores.

The proposed centre would act as the focal point for cooperation amongst the Members countries of the Asian Region in Biotechnology.

Rohtak city’s famous Rewri and Gajjak sell like hot cakes during winters

Rohtak, Nov. 17  With the onset of winters, the shopkeepers selling the traditional sweets Rewri and Gajjak in Rohtak city of Haryana are having a busy time.

There are over 200 sweetmeat shops in Rohtak selling Rewri and Gajjak. The city is known for its best quality Rewri and Gajjak. These two items are prepared with sesame seeds and jaggery or sugar.

The twin sweets are very popular and hold a huge demand not just within the State but in other the parts of the country and abroad. Beyond Haryana and rest of India, the Rewri and Gajjak find their lovers in the markets of North America, England, Europe and the Middle East.

Pragya Singhs'' religious guru promises cooperation in Malegaon blast probe

Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has so far arrested nine suspects including Singh in connection with the September 29 Malegaon blast case.

Tibetan exiles face brunt in Haryana as their woolen markets get closed

Rohtak (Haryana), Nov 11: Tibetan exiles in Haryana’s Rohtak district were recently barred from running their market of woolen clothes as district administration canceled their permission, allegedly under pressure from local traders.

They had bought land and got permission from the district administration to start their traditional business of selling woolens during winters. But at last moment the administration cancelled the order, which according to exiles has been done under pressure from local traders whose business gets affected.
