Islamabad - Pakistani insurgents holding a US citizen working for the United Nations said Monday they would extend for "few days" the deadline given for the hostage's execution.

A previously unknown group, the Baloch United Liberation Front, on Friday released a video of John Solecki, who leads the UN refugee agency's operations in the south-western Balochistan province, and issued a 72-hour ultimatum for the acceptance of their demands.

Solecki was kidnapped by gunmen in the provincial capital Quetta on February 2 while he was on his way to work in a car carrying the UN emblem and registration plates. His Pakistani driver was shot dead in the ambush.

Islamabad - At least 10 people were killed on Monday in a suspected US missile strike on Pakistan's north-western tribal region near the Afghan border, officials said.

The attack was believed to be carried out by US unmanned aircraft that targeted a suspected militant hideout in Sadda area of Kurram tribal district.

Two missiles destroyed a house where Taliban militants were holding a meeting, according to a local intelligence official.

Islamabad, Feb. 15 : Attempts were made to hack the official website of the Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), minutes after the Pakistan Government acknowledged that part of the attack was planned in Pakistan.

According to The Dawn, the FIA managed to restore its website within 15 minutes.

Islamabad, February 15 : Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Nandita Das graced the second-last day of the KaraFilm Festival in Karachi, Pakistan.

The two of them are known to be the "oldest supporters" of the Kara festival.

Pakistani newspaper the News says in one of its reports that Das and Bhatt were welcome signs, and a massive statement of commitment from the neighbours across the border.

Islamabad - A suspected pilotless US aircraft on Saturday fired two missiles on a militant hideout in Pakistan's restive tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing 30 people, an intelligence official said.

Seven people were also injured in the attack in South Waziristan, a sanctuary of Taliban and al-Qaeda militants launching cross-border attacks on international troops in Afghanistan.
