Five blasts rock Pakistan's cultural hubIslamabad  - Five low-intensity bombs on late Friday exploded outside two popular theatres in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, leaving half a dozen people injured and causing damage to nearby buildings, officials said.

"Two blasts occurred inside the courtyard of the Al-Falah theatre and a third near the main gate of the vicinity, while the fourth bomb exploded when the rescue workers reached the site," said Deputy Inspector General of Investigations Mushtaq Sukhera.

Pakistan holds high level meet to discuss foreign policy post Kasab’s acceptance

Islamabad, Jan. 9: The Pakistan Foreign Office called a high level meeting to discuss the country's foreign policy, especially in regard the situation arising after its acceptance that its soil was used in the November, 2008 Mumbai attacks, the News reported.

Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and other Security officials discussed the foreign policy of Pakistan keeping in view the Ajmal Amir Kasab issue, and the rise in tension between India and Pakistan after the Mumbai carnage.

Police and paramilitary soldiers escorted the Shia community''s parades in several major cities, and commandos were perched on some rooftops along the routes in a bid to prevent violence, the Dawn reported.

Pakistan MapIslamabad - Suspected Taliban militants on Thursday assassinated a senior government official and his guard in Pakistan's volatile tribal region, officials and residents said.

Aman Ullah, a local administration officer, was on his way to his office in Razmak, a town in troubled North Waziristan that borders Afghanistan, when assailants sprayed his vehicles with bullets.

Ullah and his guard died on the spot while another junior officer was rushed with multiple injuries to a hospital in Miranshah, the main town in the district, said an intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Pak opposition parties flay Govt’s handling of Kasab issue as “blooper of a confused regime”

PakistanIslamabad, Jan. 8 : Opposition parties in Pakistan have blasted the Government for its inept handling of the Kasab nationality issue, while demanding that no culprit found guilty should ever be handed over to India.

"We are committed to our principled stance and we will put to trial non-state actors according to our law, but the government should never hand over any culprit to India", the Nation quoted PML-N Secretary Information Ahsan Iqbal, as saying.

"If any individual of any state is found guilty in heinous crimes it does not mean that the whole country is put under trial," Iqbal added.

Pak rules out “official support” for “heinous crime” committing KasabIslamabad, Jan. 8 : After accepting that the lone surviving Mumbai gunner is a Pakistani national, Islamabad has now refused to give any official support to Ajmal Amir Kasab.

"Kasab has committed a heinous crime. He will not be provided any official support or consular access," the Daily Times quoted Pak Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Sadiq, as saying.

Earlier, after a prolonged delay in accepting that Kasab belonged to its soil, Pakistan finally accepted that Kasab was its national.
