Islamabad admits Mumbai gunman is Pakistani Islamabad  - Pakistan admitted on Wednesday that the sole surviving Mumbai attacker was a Pakistani national, media reports said quoting officials.

The confirmation came from Pakistani Information Minister Sherry Rehman who gave no further details, according to the private Urdu- language Geo news channel.

India has long been insisted that gunman Ajmal Amir Qasab was a Pakistani, and on Tuesday officially gave Islamabad the information that New Delhi says links the perpetrators to elements inside Pakistan.

Pakistan FlagIslamabad, Jan. 7 : Authorities in Pakistan stepped up security across the country on Wednesday as Shia mourners began annual Ashura processions to commemorate the martyrdom of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad, Hazrat Imam Hussain.

The Dawn quoted Punjab Province Minister Tanvir Ashraf Kaira as saying: "Foolproof security arrangements have been completed to maintain law and order during Ashura. Police and other law enforcement agencies have been put on alert and army personnel have been deployed in sensitive districts."

Islamabad, Jan 7: The Pakistan National Assembly's Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs has asked the government to send parliamentary delegations to different countries to present Islamabad's case regarding the Mumbai terror attacks.

Members of the committee were of the view that Pakistan has not presented its case successfully at the international level, adding that the Foreign Office should be more proactive in giving a matching response to the Indian allegations.

Briefing the committee, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Malik Amad Khan said India had not shared `substantial' evidence with Pakistan.

He said non-state actors had their own ulterior motives, the Daily Times reported.
