Former Pak captains fear India may pullout of Test and ODI seriesLahore, Nov 13 : India’s decision to cancel their junior hockey team’s visit to Pakistan is giving jitters to the cricket establishment which is fearing that the BCCI can pull out its team from Test and ODI series.

Former captains Javed Miandad and Rashid Latif fear that M S Dhoni’s men would also be asked to pull out of the Test and ODI series scheduled next year.

PPL & PMLLahore, Nov 12 : A prominent PML-N leader Javed Hashmi has reportedly claimed that the Opposition in Pakistan had enough lawmakers in the National Assembly to topple the PPP-led government.

But, he added, “the PML-N did not want to create political instability in the country”.

“At present 172 parliamentarians were sitting on the opposition benches in the NA and 170 members on the treasury benches,” the Daily Times quoted Hashmi as saying in an interview with a TV channel.

Lahore cops shun jackets weighing 15-20 kg

Lahore, Nov 11 : Policemen who are supposed to perform a 12-hour shift while standing alert at police pickets installed at exit and entry points of Lahore city, are shunning the “heavy” jackets as they weigh around 15-20 kg.

They complain that it was impossible to wear the jackets as they were too heavy to wear for 12 hours at a stretch.

Hence, they have decided not to wear them, thereby putting their lives at stake in a possible suicide attack, reported the Daily Times.

Superintendent of Police (SSP-operations) Shafique Ahmad had during a visit to Sagian Bridge ordered the provision of bulletproof jackets to the police squad.

Lucky Dhillow, a British Sikh, is learnt to have donated this bus for the purpose.

Till last year, while carrying out the Nigar Kirtan, the Sri Guru Granth was placed on the handcart and taken to the various gurdwaras in Nankana Sahib, reported the Daily Times.

After thrashing Oz, India jumps to second spot in ICC Test ratings

Lahore, Nov 11: After thrashing the world champions, Australia, by 172 runs in the fourth and last Test in Nagpur yesterday and winning the series 2-0, India has gained seven ratings points to be placed at the second spot, along with South Africa with 116 points, according to the latest ICC ratings.

With the historic win, India regained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after five years.

Graeme Smith’s South African team now slips just below India to third position by a fraction of a ratings point, the Daily Times reported.
