Musharraf’s farmhouse ok for poultry but never a swimming pool!

Former president Pervez MusharrafLahore, Oct 31: A petition filed in Pakistan’s Supreme Court has asked the court to cancel the land allotted to former president Pervez Musharraf at Chak Shahzad.

The petition filed on Thursday by Jamil Akhtar stated that the land could only be used to grow vegetables and poultry but Musharraf’s farmhouse had a swimming pool and a jogging track, among other facilities.

Lawson says experience can make Malik a good Pak captain

Geoff LawsonLahore, Oct 28 : Sacked Pakistani cricket coach Geoff Lawson has said that if (Pakistan) captain Shoaib Malik gets some experience, he could turn out to be a good captain for his national team.

“If Malik gets some experience, he could prove to be a good captain,” the Daily Times quoted Lawson as telling reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium last evening.

Malik was appointed captain after Pakistan made a first round exit from the World Cup in the West Indies last year.

Nawaz claims K-issue would have been resolved if Musharraf had not toppled his govt in 1999

The former premier said his government was dislodged under a planned conspiracy at a time when the resolution of the Kashmir dispute was near, reported the Daily Times.

‘IMF wants Pakistan to cut army spending’

IMFLahore, Oct 26 : The International Monetary Fund has asked Pakistan to cut military spending by almost a third as fears grew that the country’s economic crisis was now so bad that its role in the war on terror was imperilled, according to a report in The Australian.

The report said the ‘secret IMF demand – one of several things that the country is being asked to agree to for a bailout of its tanking economy – was disclosed as President Asif Ali Zardari prepared to go to Saudi Arabia for help’.

Also on Friday, it was announced that US General David Petraeus would travel to Islamabad next week for talks.

Lawson refuses to leave Pakistan until dues are cleared

Geo News quoted sources as saying that Lawson was in contact with the Australian High Commission.

PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt said the board would review Lawson’s agreement on Monday and would pay him any remaining dues, the Daily Times reported.
