Mumbai, Sept 15 : The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark Sensex fell by 772.62 points this morning following the U. S. investment bank Lehman Brothers filing for bankruptcy.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also dipped below 4,000-mark by falling 242.40 points after banking stocks led by ICICI and HDFC Bank slipped sharply.

Realty stocks are among the worst hit. The Realty index has gone down by over 7 per cent. IT and power stocks have also plunged sharply by 5.25 per cent to 6 per cent.

Mumbai, Sept 12 : Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar on Friday said that India and the United States will work on a reprocessing agreement within six months after the 123 agreement is passed by the US Congress.

Kakodkar said that consultations on arrangements and procedures with the US on reprocessing would have to be completed within a year as per the 123 Agreement.

"The idea is, after the US Congressional vote on 123 Agreement, to complete the formalities on reprocessing agreement," Kakodar said.

Mumbai, Sept 12 : US national Kenneth Haywood, who left the country while facing a probe in the multiple blasts that killed 57 people in Ahmedabad returned to India and presented himself before the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) office in Mumbai on Thursday to clear his name.

ATS’Additional Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh said that Haywood was no more under suspicion and will be called for statement if a need arises.

"As I told you that at this point of time we don''t have any suspicion against him as per the enquiries that have been conducted till now. And we don''t find need of any narco- analysis," Singh told reporters.

Mumbai, Sept 11 : Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday said he has accepted Amitabh Bachchan’s apology and added that he is withdrawing his party’s agitation over Jaya Bachchan’s alleged "anti-Marathi" remarks.

Speaking to media, Raj Thackeray said: “We accept Big B’s apology because he went public and we are withdrawing our agitation.”

He further said that Jaya Bachchan should not speak on issues that she has no idea of, adding that, she should not speak impromptu and should stick to a script.

Mumbai, Sept 10 : The new Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor, Dr. Duvvuri Subbarao, has said India''s inflation rate is showing some signs of moderation but, it is still too early to conclude whether it represents a discernable trend.

Subbarao, who took over from Y. V. Reddy on Friday revealed this at his first news conference on Tuesday.
