HIV-Positive Parents Kill Children Before Suicide

The recent incident in Mumbai highlighted the miserable plight of people suffering with AIDS. In Mumbai, parents infected with HIV killed their three children before committing suicide. This incident has once again highlighted the narrow thinking of Indians regarding people infected with HIV. Most Indians are not even ready to touch people infected with HIV.

Despite various awareness programs started by the government to educate people about AIDS, there has been no major change in thinking of people. Various incidences related to abandonment of HIV patients by their families and spouses have been reported from time to time.

The narrow mentality of people towards HIV people forced a couple to kill their children and commit suicide.

Sensex falls below 15K in early trade

Indian Court Rejects Plea To Abort Sick Fetus

According to the Indian Parliament, a woman can’t undergo an abortion if she has passed 20 weeks of her pregnancy, unless her life is at risk.

Keeping it in mind, Mumbai High Court on Monday rejected 31 year old Niketa Mehta’s plea to abort her 25-week-old fetus, which has been detected with a congenital heart disease. Last month, Niketa Mehta along with her husband Haresh and gynecologist Dr. Nikhil Dattar had knocked the door of the high court to allow the abortion.
