Mumbai, Aug 25 : The Communist Party of India today accused the US of being responsible for the failure of the recent Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) meeting in Vienna to give India a waiver for global nuclear commerce.

CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan told media persons here today, "Small countries raised objections and it was not without the knowledge of the US."

Bardhan said that most of the objections at Vienna were raised on the clauses of the Hyde Act, like continuous fuel supply to India.

Mumbai/Bhubaneswar, August 23 : Maharashtra and Orissa on Saturday invited Tata motors to set up its plant in their State for ''Nano'' project that has been in controversy ever since its initiation in Singur (West Bengal), owing to protests over land granted to the motor makers.

Citing the antecedents of the Tatas, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said that the motor makers are always welcome to avail the facilities of the State.

Mumbai, August 20 : Greenpeace activists in Mumbai staged a demonstration outside the headquarters of Tata company on Wednesday against a port that the company is planning to set up in Orissa.

The activists claimed that the building of the port would adversely affect the turtle population in the region.

The building of the mega port at Dhamra in Orissa will destroy the turtles taking an entire fragile and significant eco system with them.
