Kathmandu - A senior United States administration official met Monday with the leader of Nepal's former Maoist rebels in a sign of a growing thaw in relations between the two sides.
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Evan A Feigenbaum met Maoist leader Prachanda, who is expected to head a new government to be formed within days.
The meeting has assumed growing importance because the Maoists are still listed by the US as an organization supporting terrorist activities.
