10 Pak security personnel killed in suicide attack in Waziristan

PakistanPeshawar, Sep 20 : At least 10 Pakistani security personnel have been killed and several others have been wounded when their convoy was targeted by a suicide bomber on Bannu Road in North Waziristan.

Sources said that the security forces convoy was targeted near the Essa check post on the Miranshah-Bannu Road, five kilometers away from Miranshah.

They further said that the security forces caravan was on its way to Miranshah from Bannu, when suicide bomber rammed his explosive laden vehicle with the convoy, which left two vehicles of the security forces destroyed with over 20 personnel on board.

715 Sikh pilgrims in Pak to commemorate 469th death anniversary of Guru Nanak

Guru Nanak Dev JiLahore, Sep 20 : Approximately 315 Indian pilgrims have already arrived in Pakistan for the 469th death anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji, while about 400 pilgrims will reach the Wagha border today by a special train to attend the three day Joti Jot Guruparab.

Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Deputy Administrator (Shrines) Fraz Abbas said that about 400 pilgrims would reach by special train today.

He said all Sikh pilgrims are scheduled to reach Pakistan by September 20, but half of them had already arrived by the Samjhauta Express.

US drones continue flights over Pak tribal areas despite warning

Lahore, Sep 20 : American drones are continuing their flights over various areas of North and South Waziristan, spreading panic and fear among locals despite a warning from Pakistan not to do so.

According to Express News, the spy planes were seen flying over Ghulam Khan, Hamzoni, Ditta Khel and Mir Ali areas of North Waziristan and Angoor Adda and Mateen areas of South Waziristan.

According to the channel, the continued drone flights have increased fears among locals, already worried about the security situation in their areas.

Earlier, Pakistani security forces along with tribesmen repulsed a ground attack by US-led troops in South Waziristan.

Dr Fauzia said that they would approach the International Court of Justice if the American courts did not provide a just decision in Aafia’s case.

Pak women legislators ask US to stop attacks in Tribal Areas

New York, Sep 20 : A delegation of Pakistani women parliamentarians, now visiting the United States, has pleaded with US lawmakers and the Bush Administration to stop American attacks inside Pakistan and provide free trade opportunities to women.

MNA Azra Pechuho of the Pakistan People’s Party said the US-sponsored “Reconstruction Opportunity Zones” in the tribal areas were specifically discussed during their meetings with Capitol Hill lawmakers.

These zones would play a major role in promoting long-term economic development in the region; Dawn quoted Pechuho, as saying.

“We believe ROZs will provide the crucial economic component that complements our military and political strategies.”

Islamabad - 10 Pakistani soldiers killed in suicide attack on convoy At least 10 soldiers were killed and a dozen injured Saturday in a suicide attack on their convoy in Pakistan's restive tribal region along the Afghan border, security officials said.

A suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into an army convoy of 30 to 40 vehicles in the tribal district of North Waziristan, destroying at least four vehicles and damaging several others.

"Ten soldiers were martyred and 12 injured in the attack," a local security said.
