Hailing from a poor family of western Tripura, Tapan is making micro-clay-images, which is unique. Tapan has become an inspiration for many youngsters in the state, who want to create a niche for themselves in the world.

Using clay as the main component for his work, Tapan uses seeds, glasses and paints to make his creations more attractive.

Agartala blast a handiwork of foreign terrorists

Agartala, TripuraAgartala, Oct 14 : It''s calm after the storm. The serial blasts in Agartala have not only left a mark on the ground, it has left a deep scar on the psyche of the people and dented the people''s confidence that has been built up in the last few years.

People were quite happy to retrieve peace after years of violence in the state but the recent blasts have again brought the memories of the past. They are trying to understand, who might be trying to disturb the new found peace in the state.

Bomb with mobile phone trigger found in Agartala

Agartala, TripuraAgartala, Oct 5 : One more live bomb was recovered from Radhanagar area of Agartala on today, which was later defused by the bomb squad of National Security Guard (NSG).

The Additional Superintendent of Tripura Police, Bijoy Nag, said highly explosive which was connected to a mobile phone with a nine-volt battery.

The bomb inside a plastic bag was lying in a drain, which was first noticed by the locals of that area and they informed the police.

Police immediately rushed to the spot and tried to defuse the bomb but was not successful and so called the NSG bomb squad.

Tripura welcomes traveling film festival

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Oct 4 : Militancy hasn’t deterred the masses of Tripura to work for social causes, for the people of the State overwhelmingly welcomed the ''traveling film festival'', which was on its three day stint in Agartala, the state''s capital.

The film festival is on a five month journey, to raise awareness about environment and wildlife.

The traveling film festival was organized by Centre of Media Studies, a non-governmental organization.

Explosives with mobile phone trigger used in Agartala blast: Tripura Police

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Oct 3 : The Tripura Police on Friday said that highly explosive devices and a mobile phone were used to trigger Wednesday''s low intensity bomb blasts in Agartala.

Deputy Inspector General (Police Control) Nepal Das said, “Samples collected from the blast sites by a team of the National Security Guard (NSG) from Delhi along with forensic experts from Kolkata have prima facie revealed that the explosives used were of most recent vintage.”

Das said the terrorists used a mobile phone as a timer device and batteries of nine volts, which enabled the serial blasts to take place within a short span of time.

Tripura’s Jirania block registers 97 per cent literacy rateAgartala, Oct 2 : Terror struck Agartala, the capital of Tripura on Wednesday evening when five bombs went off within 30 minutes in crowded market places and a bus stand.

Two persons were confirmed dead and about 76 injured in the five blasts of which at least two of the blasts were powerful.

The injured were taken to the nearby hospital. According to sources in the hospital some of the injured are in critical condition.
