Bangladeshi theatre artists perform epic ''Ramayana'' in Tripura

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Nov. 19 : ‘Oneness through drama'' was the central message of a group of Bangladeshi theatre artistes, who were on a cultural trip to Agartala recently and left an indelible mark on various theatre lovers.

It was a delightful and emphatic performance of “Ebong Aswamedh Jagna", by a group of 19 artistes from Bangladesh, which performed the epic Ramayana at the central auditorium of Tripura University here recently.

Nine killed in road mishap in Tripura

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Nov 15 : At least nine people died and 30 critically injured following a road traffic accident on the national high 44 on Saturday in Tripura.

The incident occurred at around 12 p. m. when three vehicles had a head-on collided at a tri-junction near Gakulnagar, 17 kilometre south from here.

The incident happened when two jeeps had a head-on collision and another speeding jeep coming from the back banged the two jeeps.

Tripura celebrates Lord Krishna's "Rass Lila"Agartala, Nov. 13: Thousands of Hindu Manipuris'' celebrated "Maha Raas", a festival celebrating the love life of Lord Krishna, here.

The festival is celebrated every year on the full moon night of "Kartik Purnima" in the Hindu month - "Kartik" to mark Krishna''s love for Radha.

Girls in their traditional dresses danced round the idols of Lord Krishna and Radha even as one acting as Gopies sang devotional songs through out the night at a local temple.

Jairam Ramesh reviews Tripura power project works

Jairam RameshPalatana (Tripura), Nov. 3 : Union Minister of State for Power and Commerce Jairam Ramesh on Sunday said that he would take up with the Bangladesh government the grant of transit permission for consignments for the 726.6 MW gas-based power project, from Haldia port in Kolkata to the project site here via Ashuganj in Bangladesh and Akhura Land Custom Station on the India-Bangladesh border in Tripura.

Ramesh, however, told The Hindu at the project site that he was not hopeful of Bangladesh giving consent. He said Dhaka said ‘no’ to an earlier proposal.

Tripura’s young protest against militancy through their paintings

Tripura, AgartalaAgartala, Nov. 3 : Young children in Tripura capital Agartala have adopted a unique way of protesting against militancy, especially the bomb blasts – through a painting exhibition.

The children, aged between 10 and 15 years, see their imaginative creations as an effective way to challenge the subversive activities of the militants and send out a message of peace and unity among the people.

While one painter said that without peace there could no development, another said people should unite against the evil and work for development.
