Female Muslim lawyer in UK wins 75,000 pounds over ‘Mother Teresa’ jibes

London, Dec 4 : A Muslim barrister in Britain has won a 75,000 dollar payout from her former legal firm after a senior partner and deputy district judge referred to her as “Mother Teresa” and “tent head”.

Saleca Faisal-Parkar, 31, was harassed, overlooked for jobs and training and was even branded lazy after she became seriously ill while pregnant, The Telegraph reported.

Stephen Jones led the abuse, who then headed litigation at the leading law firm Shakespeares, also referred to her as a “flipping nun”.

He was also a deputy district judge and a member of the Solicitors Disciplinary Panel, but has resigned both positions in the light of the scandal.

German soldiers “too fat and too drunk” to fight Taliban fanatics

AfghanistanLondon, Dec 4 : German soldiers in Afghanistan have been accused of being “too fat and too drunk” to fight Taliban fanatics.

According to a report, last year 3,500 German troops in Afghanistan downed 1.7million pints of beer and 90,000 bottles of wine.

MPs have said that these soldiers live on ‘beer and sausages’.

The report also revealed that more than 40pct of the troops are overweight.

German troops were given the task of training Afghan police. But General Hans-Christoph Ammon, the commander of the special commando unit, the KSK, called the efforts as “a miserable failure.”
