Islamabad, Nov 25 : The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) and the UK have reportedly distanced themselves from the frequent drone attacks in Pakistan, said Senate Standing Committee on Defence Chairman Nisar Memon last evening.

The two have asked the Pakistan government to raise the issue (of drone attacks) with the US.

London, Nov 25 : A new report by a high-level panel of experts has praised the idea of sending NASA astronauts to visit a nearby asteroid.

According to New Scientist, the US National Research Council (NRC) report, titled “Launching Science: Science Opportunities Provided by NASA’s Constellation System,” was written by a committee chaired by George Paulikas, a retired executive for the Aerospace Corporation, a think tank based in El Segundo, California.

The report has high praise for a proposal to send astronauts to a nearby asteroid, or near-Earth object (NEO).

London - A British couple convicted of having sex on a beach in Dubai had their three-month jail sentences suspended Tuesday and will be deported back home, their lawyer said.

Michelle Palmer, 36, and Vince Acors, 34, both from London, were freed by Dubai's Court of Appeal. They would be deported and were ordered to pay a fine of 170 pounds (255 dollars), Acors' lawyer in London said.

The pair, who were on bail, were handed the jail sentences last month after being convicted of public indecency and having unmarried sex.

London, Nov 25: The mother of British teenager Scarlett Keeling, whose body was found on a beach in the resort state of Goa, is being investigated over claims that she swindled her benefits.

According to reports, Fiona MacKeown, 43, allegedly failed to declare cash from selling fruit.

MacKeown, the mum of nine, of Bradworthy, Devon, is charged in India with abandoning Scarlett, reports the Sun.

Meanwhile, an Indian court has dropped sexual assault charges against Scarlett’s boyfriend.

London, Nov. 25: He may be one of England’s best football players today, but Wayne Rooney recalls a time when police in his hometown of Croxethe, Liverpool, took away his football because he was playing on the street.

“When I was about 16, I got my ball taken off me by the police for playing in the street – which is pathetic really,” The Sun quotes Rooney, as saying.

Asked where he used to play as a youngster, he said: “I was fortunate because at the back of my mum’s house there was a five-a-side tarmac pitch.

London, Nov 25: Archaeologists have claimed that a 1,000-year-old miniature pagoda, unearthed in Nanjing, China, holds a piece of skull belonging to Siddhartha Gautama, the founder of Buddhism.

According to a report in the Telegraph, the pagoda was wedged tightly inside an iron case that was discovered at the site of a former temple in the city in August this year.
