New brain implants bring bionic man closer to reality

London, Nov 19 : Steve Austin won loads of accolades as a bionic man in the 70s series ‘The Six Million Dollar Man’, and now scientists claim that a revolutionary brain implant would soon make the fictional character a reality – using the help of the movie.

MicroBridge Services, based at Cardiff University, south Wales, is pioneering work in which tiny implants would be able to effectively channel brain-waves to prosthetic limbs.

The company is a leader in micro-engineering design and manufacture and possibly the only firm in the world capable of creating the implants.

The implants are the size of a match head carrying 100 sensors made of extremely hard tungsten carbide, which conducts electricity.

Brit builders dump traditional brew for posh lattes!

London, Nov 19 : Brit labourers are ditching their traditional cuppa for the upmarket coffee, a new survey has revealed.

According to the study of 500 building trade workers, six out of 10 builders prefer coffee during their breaks – and they like to add semi-skimmed milk in it instead of the full-fat variety.

However, the sugar intake is the same – most Brits still add two sugars – regardless of whether they are sipping a cuppa or a cappuccino.

Insiders blame the influx of coffee-sipping workers from abroad for the change in drinking habits.

The survey was carried out by DIY chain Wickes.
