The five live together as a family in the State''s Porbandar district.

Gwalior septuagenarian plays 11-feet flute for Guinness Book

Gwalior, July 25 : A septuagenarian in Gwalior wishes to leave no stone unturned to get his name endorsed in the Guinness Book of World Records. To make his claim for inclusion in the record book, he plays an eleven-feet flute, designed by him.

Ramkrishna Trivedi has been playing flute since his childhood and is an avid Indian classical music artiste.

It was his zeal to outperform others that made him attempt various things besides playing the flute. This way he also started making flutes.

Ramkrishna is at home while playing long flutes and it takes him just an hour to prepare such flutes.

One militant killed in encounter with police in Tripura

TripuraKhowai (Tripura), July 25, : One All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) militant was killed at Khowai in an encounter between the police and the militant group today.

The encounter occurred around 4 a. m. The police party laid an ambush at Ganda Basti after receiving a tip off that a group of armed ATTF extremists were in the area.

On being challenged by the Police party, ATTF extremists opened fire.

Extremists fled away leaving the dead body of one extremist with bullet injuries. Police also recovered AK-81 rifle -1, Magazine-03, AK-series live Rds -71, Camera – 1 and other incriminating papers of ATTF extremists from the spot.

Japan-US alliance should be expanded by including India, Australia

Japan US FlagNew Delhi, July 25 : The Japan-US alliance should be expanded with inclusion of countries like India, Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, South Korea for better strategic and economic safety and better coordination in the fight against terrorism, a Japanese scholar has said.

The suggestion came from Professor Robert D Eldridge, Director of the US-Japan Alliance Affairs Division, Center for International Security Studies and Policy, Osaka University, while delivering a talk on “The Japan-US Alliance in Asia: Challenges and Prospects” at Observer Research Foundation, a public policy think tank based in New Delhi.

Refugees assaulted at Norwegian refugee centre

Oslo - Police were Friday investigating an attack on a refugee centre in south-eastern Norway where some 20 refugees were assaulted, police and local media reported.

Hospitals said Friday that the injured refugees were in stable condition.

The attack took place Thursday evening and several reports attributed the attack to rivalry between Chechen nationals and refugees of Kurdish background.

Ole Morten Lyng of the Valer refugee centre said the attack was conducted by some 40 to 50 Chechen nationals.

The assailants arrived in several vehicles, scaled the refugee centre's perimeter fence and used baseball bats and iron bars to beat refugees, he told broadcaster NRK. Some refugees were also stabbed.

Taliban is winning the propaganda war of words in Afghanistan

Washington, July 25 : In its latest report, the International Crisis Group (ICG) has warned that the Taliban had developed sophisticated infrastructure and was carrying out an effective propaganda, and that the Afghanistan government should also develop an equally strong paraphernalia to counter the Taliban’s might.

The report titled “Taliban Propaganda: Winning the War of Words?,” examines the Taliban communication apparatus, which is exploiting popular disillusionment with the government and the US and other foreign troops.

Using the full range of media, the Taliban are successfully tapping into strains of Afghan nationalism.
