Retired Clijsters looks set for possible return to the courtsBrussels  - Kim Clijsters looks set to do an about-face Thursday on the tennis career she gave up for marriage and a child, with the Belgian set to make an announcement later this week.

The 25-year-old is reportedly ready to "unveil her plans for 2009" a the club where the mother of one has recently resumed hard training.

Belgian media report that the former number 1 and 2005 US Open winner could return as early as the US Open in late summer. The Clijsters camp is keeping quiet prior to the announcement.

Clijsters played for the last time on the WTA in Warsaw nearly two years ago prior to marrying an American basketball player and settling down to domesticity in Belgium. She gave birth to a daughter, Jada, in February 2008.

Clijsters was the first of Belgium's two reigning women' stars to quit the game, with Justine Henin stepping out last May saying she had accomplished her goals in the sport after seven Grand Slam titles including four in five years at the French Open.

Clijsters has already tipped her hand at a possible return to action, signing on for an exhibition on May 17 against Steffi Graf to open the new Wimbledon Centre court roof.

She is also on for an exhibition match in the Netherlands on June 14 against Michaella Krajicek and will play two summer matches in American Team Tennis. (dpa)
