RIM Enters In Deal With Microsoft To Provide Exclusive Services

RIMs Blackberry phones will now provide the users with Microsoft’s web search engine.  The service would be available to the users, later this year.

In order to increase its market share, Microsoft is trying to promote search engine Live.com, which is still lagging behind Google and Yahoo.

Today, RIM also announced a deal with Tivo, the Canadian makers of smart phone, which will offer a variety of mobile entrainment services.

Users of BlackBerry smartphone, will gain a lot of benefits, such as the information about the shows that are on and also have the convenience of recording Television while away from the living room. The next Focus of collaboration between these companies is to simplify mobile access to video content and software applications.  

RIM announced further that the flip Blackberry Pearl 8220 would be available this fall through Deutsche Telekom AG's T-Mobile USA at yet undeclared price. Even though it does not support the newest 3G network, Blackberry 8220 is made for other connectivity options such as, the integrated Wi-Fi, Bluetooth version 2.0 and EDGE connections for Internet browsing, e-mailing, and streaming video from YouTube's mobile site.

Blackberry Pearl 8220 measures around 3.9 by 1.9 by 7 inches, weights 3.6 ounces and features up to 16 GB of storage via the microSD slot; support for Microsoft Exchange, Lotus, Novell GroupWise and Web-based e-mails; the BlackBerry Media Sync application which allows users to sync their iTunes music; a 2-megapixel camera with flash and zoom, with video recording; up to 16 GB of storage via the microSD slot. It also has SureType QWERTY keyboard; twin displays: 128-by-160 light-sensing external display and internal screen with 240 by 320 resolutions and much more.

A high end smartphone has exciting features like built-in GPS and Wi-Fi, a new 624 MHz mobile processor, 1GB of memory and a much clearer 480 by 320-pixel color display. It also includes 3G supports and will retail for around $299.99 from AT&T's retail stores, from the carrier's website and select national retailers.

The latest study released by research company IDC, RIM leads 50% more than smartphone market with their strong competitor iPhone and Apple.
