Rs. 45,000 crore expected out of 3G auctionsThe selling of 3G and broadband spectrums is expected to fetch the government as much as Rs. 45,000 crore. This statement was given by the Telecom Minister, A Raja himself on Wednesday, to a private news agency PTI.

Till now, the bidding for 52 rounds has been completed. Post sale, excess demand was not reported in any of the circles including the ones in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Raja further added that the auctioning has been a success since it has raised more money than anticipated. The amount target was set at Rs. 35,000 crore.

Talking to the media during the sidelines of a telecom event, Raja said that the auctioning of the Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) and 3G spectrum is going to fetch huge money.

For the round of bidding that got over yesterday, the total money collected was Rs. 25,770 crore. This money is for the 3G spectrum alone.

Tuesday was the ninth day of the bidding. During this, the base price had already increased to Rs. 6,355 crore. It jumped from Rs. 3,500 crore.
