Rs678-cr budget for PCNTDA

Special focus on housing project for MIG and LIG

The Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township Development Authority (PCNTDA) on Friday presented a Rs678.12 crore budget for 2009-10 to Pune divisional commissioner Dilip Band. PCNTDA chief executive officer Suhas Divase presented the budget.

A special focus of the budget is the proposed housing project for middle income group (MIG) and low income group (LIG) on a public- private-partnership (PPP) basis in sector 12 on 58 hectares of land. Transforming nallas into green zones, foot overbridge at Akurdi railway station, eco-friendly office for PCNTDA, sports training centres and theme parks for children are the other features of the budget.

Speaking to reporters, Band said, "One of the peculiar features of the residential township was that it is a first of its kind project under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Renewal Mission (JNNURM) on a PPP basis, which will be developed in sector 12 in India. The PCNDTA has made a provision of Rs100 crore for the project while the central ministry has sanctioned Rs140 crore for the project," he said. He explained that 2.5 Floor Space Index will be provided.

PCNTDA has made a provision of Rs42 crore for the completion of the spine road. The road will be completed in the next six months. Rs17.28 crore has been set aside for internal roads in Pradhikaran, while Rs15 crore has been earmarked for an eco-friendly office of PCNTDA near Akurdi railway station.

PCNTDA, popularly known as Pradhikaran, was formed in 1972 to provide affordable housing for industrial workers of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Parts of the villages of Bhosari, Chikhali, Moshi, Nigdi, Akurdi, Ravet and Chinchwad were also included in PCNTDA. Over the years, these areas have witnessed planned development, wider roads and amenities like gardens and hospitals.

Highlights

PCNTDA will create two theme parks in Pradhikaran limits and it will be based on spreading

awareness about traffic rules and safety among children and non-conventional energy sources.

To ease the difficulty in crossing the road at Akurdi railway tracks, PCNTDA will build a foot overbridge for the safety of the citizens.
