Salman moves MCOCA for dues of a 2001 film

Salman moves MCOCA for dues of a 2001 filmIn an application to the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court on Monday, Bollywood actor Salman Khan has sought directive to state government for the payment of pending amount for a 2001 film - 'Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.'

The application will come up for hearing before special MCOCA judge, Y D Shinde, on November 20.

Salman Khan stated in his application that as per agreement with producer of film, Nazim Rizvi, in 1999, he had signed agreement for acting in the film for a remuneration of Rs 1.5 crore.

Renuka Laxmeshwar, the actor's lawyer said: "Till date he has received only Rs 1.25 cr and Rs 25 lakh are still pending." The court had in 2001 stated that Salman Khan would receive the entire amount after it passes a judgment in the case.

Allegedly funded by the underworld, the financier of the film, Bharat Shah, and its producer Rizvi were arrested for links with the underworld. Due to the case registered against the two, all the sale proceeds of the film were deposited by the court receiver in the state treasury.

The then MCOCA Judge A P Bhangale had appointed a court receiver. Salman Khan says that accounts and claims of all the parties concerned had been settled, except his.

Laxmeshwar said: "The judgment passed by the court in 2002 was silent about the remaining amount. Following this we approached the Bombay High Court, which directed us to approach the MCOCA court first."
