Sehwag, Saina to receive Padam Shree awardThe aggressive Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and young badminton ace Saina Nehwal have been named for the prestigious 2010 Padam Shree award along with four other sports personalities for their outstanding achievements in their respective games.

Hockey player Ignace Tirkey, Formula One driver Narain Karthikeyan, Beijing Olympic bronze medallist Vijender Singh and cricket coach Ramakant Achrekar, who had coached Sachin Tendulkar in the school days, are the other sports person to receive the country's highest civilian award.

Saina said that she is feeling proud to be named for Padam Shree award and she give the credit to her parents and coach for this award as without them it could not have been possible for her to improve her game.

However, Sushil Kumar, Beijing Olympic bronze medallist in wrestling, expressed disappointment on not being named for the award. Sushil said that he is certainly disappointed as his achievements are not less than any one of them.

The Padam Shree award will be given to these sports person by the honourable president of India, Mrs Pratibha Devi Singh Patil in the Rastrapati Bhawan on the evening of the Republic Day on Tuesday.
