New Delhi, Jan. 27 : As a mark of respect to the former President, Shri R. Venkataraman, seven- day state mourning will be observed throughout India from January
27,
2009 to February 2, 2009, both days inclusive.

During the period of State mourning, the national flag will fly at half mast on all buildings throughout India where it is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment.

Venkataraman passed away at 1430 hours at the Army Research and Referral Hospital, New Delhi.(ANI)
