Seven-year-old Iraqi boy, two brothers killed in Mosul bomb attacks Baghdad  - A seven-year-old child was among three Iraqis killed in three separate bombings on Wednesday in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, police said.

The child was killed by an explosion that targeted a police convoy in eastern Mosul's al-Akha district, police told the German Press Agency dpa.

In a second bomb attack, this time targeting the Kharzaq district in the south of the city, two brothers died, police said.

And at least 12 people were wounded when a car bomb exploded as a police patrol passed by near central Mosul's al-Matran Palace.

Iraqi security forces have arrested more than 100 insurgents in Mosul, some 400 kilometres north of Baghdad, since they began an offensive dubbed "Operation New Hope" on February 20.

Insurgents have responded with near-daily attacks in and near the city, which remains among Iraq's most dangerous. (dpa)
