Space giant NASA to cut over 1000 jobsThe leading space contractor of US, NASA is to cut more than 1000 jobs of the leading scientists and technicians of the world. This will be done when NASA will complete its entire space shuttle programme.

The United Space Alliance, which is responsible for the management of shuttle fleet and also handles the International Space Station of NASA, said most of the jobs would be cut in Texas and Florida.

Only two shuttle missions are remaining and are scheduled to be completed by next year. The total numbers of jobs to be cut represents around 15% of the total workforce. But the firm has cleared that more cuts in jobs are expected in future.

The editor of the space specialist website NASA watch, Keith Cowing said "It is just the beginning now, many more thousand of jobs will be cut after the space shuttle mission".

The space shuttle programme has enjoyed a large success by launching 8 flights in just 14 months and the staff has created a record for rapid processing of the shuttles.

Despite of that success they have to leave their jobs. According to the sources this move has been taken because of funding problem and huge salary amounts.
