Suzuki Motorcycle India has overtaken Hero MotoCorp to become the third largest scooter maker during the first half of the current fiscal. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is leading the scooter maker in India. The company is followed by TVS Motor Company.

During the first six months of the current fiscal, total scooter sales has declined by nearly 17 percent to 3.1 million units. Automobile sector has been facing lower sales and the current decline in two-wheeler market is alarming.

TVS Motor Company registered 7.19 percent decline in sales during first six months of the fiscal year. The company managed to sell 6 lakh vehicles during the first six months.

Indian economy is facing tough times and automobile sector is expecting more steps from the government. The new pollution norms introduced by government will also require more investments from Indian automobile companies.
