Nokia pulls back from third-party manufacturing arena

nokiaAccording to iSuppli, the world's largest mobile handset brand Nokia is stepping out of the third-party manufacturing arena, and will thereby spend $5 billion on the manufacturing of handsets.

Citing weak global demand for mobile devices as the reason for stopping the use of outside contract manufacturers for the assembly of its phones, Nokia said it will pull back outsourced production to Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS) providers and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs).

As per TheWrap. com, when the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) panel reviewed the film, it listed it under the restricted NC-17 cinema rating, which prevents anyone under the age of 17 from viewing it.

Now, more effective nisin antibiotics to fight food-borne superbugs, pathogensWashington, Mar 31 : A new generation of natural antibiotics-called nisin variants-can now kill food bacteria and other pathogens that cause food-related diseases.

Bio-engineered by researchers at University College Cork, nisin can kill harmful micro-organisms such as MRSA and the food-borne pathogen, Listeria monocytogenes.

Nisin is an antimicrobial protein produced naturally by a bacterium called Lactococcus lactis.

Light-activated antibacterial coating may help fight hospital-acquired infectionsWashington, Mar 31 : Scientists at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute have developed a new tool to combat hospital-acquired infections- antibacterial coating that is activated by light.

The research team, led by Zoie Aiken, have tested the new coating with antibacterial properties, and found that it could kill 99.9 percent of Escherichia coli bacteria when a white hospital light was shone on its surface to activate it.
