Washington, March 27 : Pakistan and Afghanistan have hailed the US President Barack Obama's new plans to root out extremists. Both the countries have pledged to extend cooperation to the U. S in this endeavour.

Pakistan''s Ambassador to Washington, Husain Haqqani, on Friday said it was an "extraordinarily positive" sign that Obama was re-examining US policy in the region.

Washington, March 27 : The U. S. President Barack Obama on Friday said Al-Qaeda is `actively planning'' attacks on US from safe havens in Pakistan.

President Obama reminded the citizens of America that the U. S goal is to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al-Qaida in Afghanistan and Pakistan and warned that the situation in Afghanistan is increasingly perilous.

Washington, March 27 : The United States President Barack Obama, while unveiling his new Pak-Afghan strategy on Friday, has said that Pakistan must demonstrate its commitment to root out Al-Qaida.

"We cannot and we will not give a blank cheque to Pakistan," said Obama, adding: "extremists are a cancer that is killing Pakistan from within"

"We will pursue constructive diplomacy with both India and Pakistan," Obama added.

With speculations making rounds of late about the micro-blogging service Twitter's crescendos, the free and popular site intends offering premium paid accounts to businesses with extended services to generate revenue; raising its profile to Twitter newcomers; and a recommended users list to follow.

Talking about the new offerings, San Francisco-based Twitter's co-founder Biz Stone told Reuters: "We think there will be opportunities to provide services to commercial entities that help them get even more value out of Twitter. If these services are valuable to companies, we think they may want to pay for them."

Washington, Mar. 27 : Former tennis champion John McEnroe helped prosecutors to nab Art gallery owner Lawrence Salander, who was arrested on hundred counts of larceny, fraud, forgery, and perjury.

Salander, 59, is accused of stealing millions, including two million dollars from the famed tennis star.

The bankrupt gallery owner was once a respected figure in the New York art world, and is said to have swindling two-dozen investors and clients out of 88 million dollars to finance his extravagant lifestyle.
