On Tuesday at the opening round of the World Chess Championship at Bonn in Germany, World Champion Viswanathan Anand displayed a fine performance when he took the match to a draw against Russian Grandmaster Vladimir Kramnik. 
 
The World Championship campaign was started by Anand with black pieces against Kramnik, and the match soon reached to a draw after 32 moves. 
 
This Championship will be played over 12 classical games. If in case a tie happens then the winner would be decided through rapid and blitz games. 

On Wednesday, Asher Noria, the double trap shooter stole the show adding on to the excellent performance by Indian athletes currently on the lead on the fourth day of third Commonwealth Youth Games being held at Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex at Balewadi in Pune.

Shooting seemed to be the India’s expertise with 3 gold and one bronze in a day. It was Noria however who was in the limelight as he performed better than Athens silver medalist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore's score by one bird. The 16-year-old shot a total of 180 en route leading to the top spot while his nearest rival Philip Smith ended with eight birds behind.

Leading from the front, Hyderabad Heroes’ skipper Chris Harris played a match-winning innings against Dhaka Warriors at the Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium last night.

One such instance was noticed in the Indian Cricket League T20 match among the Chandigarh Lions against Mumbai Champs where the Lions were overwhelmed by loosing their six wickets when Sarabjeet came as a saviour from their front leading them to victory with his 41 not out in just 22 balls.

An unbeaten knock of 41 runs by Sarabjeet Singh saw an exciting win for Chandigarh Lions over Mumbai Champs in the ICL T20 match at the LB Stadium here. 

Singh came as a rescuer for the Lions who were struggling after losing six wickets while chasing a victory target of 136 set by the Champs. His 41 not out off just 22 balls included three huge sixes.

NKP Salve Challenger Series, which is due from October 23 to 26 in Cuttack, announced its plans as to which cricketer will hold the responsibility of leading the teams India Blue, India Green and India Red. 

The BCCI secretary, N Srinivasan on Sunday said, “We have decided to name Yuvraj Singh, Mohammad Kaif and S Badrinath as captains of India Blue, India Green and India Red teams respectively.”
