Rajasthan Royals to play all home matches in Jaipur

The Season II of the Indian Premier League will commence on April 10. The inaugural match will be held in Jaipur between defending champions Rajasthan Royals and Delhi DareDevils. Chennai will host the two semifinals on May 21 and May 22 while the final will be held in Mumbai on May 24.

The venue for the final has not yet been decided. "We're in talks. Soon we will come to a decision," an IPL official said. The options before the IPL are the CCI and the DY Patel Stadium in Nerul.

New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori made no attempt to diminish the influence the 30-year-old could exert throughout the tour.

Lack of practice games during the New Zealand tour has meant that the first T20 match, that will be played today at Christchurch, has become extremely important for India as it would help the visitors acclimatise to the conditions. The match is also crucial for Harbhajan Singh, Rohit Sharma and Irfan Pathan who would be desperate to use this opportunity to seal their berths in the one-day side.

St Augustine's High School won the U-16 boys title in the hockey championship conducted by the Thane District Hockey Association (TDHA). This championship was conducted at the MHA Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate. The matches were of 50 minutes with 25 minutes in each half.

St Augustine's High School, Nerul won the 24th Navi Mumbai School's Association Athletic Meet title which was conducted at the Navi Mumbai Sports Association from February 18 to February 20. 124 athletes participated from the school. 

Patwardhan storms into QFs

Pune's Rohan Patwardhan put a great effort before advancing with 6-2 5-7 6-2 win over Delhi's Vidhan Vyas, in the pre-quarterfinals of the DES Cup All India Ranking Men's Tennis Tournament at Fergusson College courts here on Tuesday. Joining him were, four other city players including top seed Rohan Gide, Nitin Kirtane, Akash Wagh and second seed Ketan Dhumal. 

South paw Vyas who stole the limelight by upsetting seventh seed Harshvardhan Thirani of West Bengal on Monday, failed to produce the same game against wild card entrant Patwardhan. “He (Vyas) was good with serve and forehand stokes, but I played without any pressure and made him struggle for every point with my strong forehand strokes,” explained Patwardhan.
