Hamburg sign Streit, Gravgaard in late shopping spree

SV HamburgHamburg - SV Hamburg Monday welcomed Schalke midfielder Albert Streit and Danish defender Michael Gravgaard among a flurry of new signings confirmed by the club on the last day of the transfer window.

Gravgaard, 30, arrives on loan until the end of the season from French side Nantes where he had struggled to claim a place since him move last summer from FC Copenhagen.

Streit, 28, also arrives initially on a loan deal from Schalke where he had been suspended by coach Fred Rutten after complaining of a lack of first-team opportunities.

Arshavin deals falls through - reports

Andrei ArshavinLondon - Andrei Arshavin's proposed transfer from Zenit St Petersburg to Arsenal fell through on Monday morning, according to Sky Sports News.

The Russian playmaker was in London to complete his move before the transfer window closes on Monday evening.

But sources suggest he left his Hertfordshire hotel a little after 9 a. m. (0900 GMT) to return to Russia after it became clear that Arsenal could not meet his salary demands.

It is understood, though, that the airport he was making for is closed because of snow.

David BeckhamLondon, Feb. 2 : England football star David Beckham has been included on the updated UEFA Cup player list of Italian club A C Milan, fuelling speculation that he is likely to shift his loyalties from the United States-based L. A. Galaxy.

A report in The Independent quoted Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti as saying after last night''s 3-0 defeat of Lazio: "We have included Beckham in the UEFA Cup list because he is doing very well.

"We want to take advantage of his form for the two games against Werder Bremen (on February 18 and 26)," he added.
