Badminton: Chetan lifts Bitburger Open

National Champion Chetan Anand became the first Indian player to win Badminton: Chetan lifts Bitburger Openmen's singles title in a Grand Prix. In the finals of Bitburger Open in Germany, Chetan (4th seed) defeated fellow player Arvind (7th seed) 23-25, 24-22, 23-21, lasting almost an hour. 

After winning the final, Chetan said, “This is my biggest win till date. It is a four-star Grand Prix event. I didn’t play well in the first game and conceded the advantage to Arvind. Otherwise the game wouldn’t have been this close.”

Chetan was struggling 14-19 in the third game, fought back bravely to prevail.

Anand, Bhat Enters Semis Of Bitburger Open

It was certainly a good day for the Indians at the Bitburger Open badminton Anand, Bhat Enters Semis Of Bitburger Open tournament in Germany on Friday. Indian shuttlers Chetan Anand and Arvind Bhat entered into the semi-finals of the tournament. 

In a one sided match, fourth seed and national champion Chetan Anand defeated 10th seed Lithuanian Kestutis Navickas 21-10 21-17 in 24 minutes, while in a close encounter match, Arvind Bhat (7th seed) defeated fellow P Kashyap (16th seed) 21-15 17-21 21-15 in 53-minutes to reach the last four of the tournament.
