Glenmark Gets Tentative USFDA Nod To Market ‘Ezetimibe’ TabsGlenmark Pharmaceuticals announced that it has received tentative approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to sell the generic version of Schering Plough and MSP Singapore Company LLC’s hypercholesterolemia treatment Zetia (ezetimibe) in the United States.

Glenmark, which has got sanction for 10-milligram tablets of the drug, is likely to get 180 days marketing exclusivity for the drug upon patent expiry.

Zetia recorded sales of $1.5 billion during the last year (2008), the drug maker said in a statement.

Britannia Industries inks pact with Mauritius-based firm to acquire stake

britanniaThe 117-year-old biscuit major Britannia Industries has entered into an agreement with Fonterra Brands (Mauritius Holding) Ltd, Mauritius, for acquiring the latter's 49% Equity and Preference shareholding in Britannia New Zealand Foods Pvt. Ltd (BNZF), their joint venture company engaged in Dairy business.

With this acquisition, Britannia along with its wholly owned subsidiary will hold the entire equity and preference capital of BNZF. The acquisition is subject to Reserve Bank of India approval.

Aptech, Falgo Group to setup various IT Training Centers in BrazilMumbai-headquartered Aptech Ltd, has entered into a 51:49 joint venture with Falgo group to set up various IT training centers in Brazil.

Under the arrangement, the company will setup its first centre in Brazil up by August.

Latest reports suggest that, investment in the Brazilian venture is pegged at $1 million. However, the final disclosure from the companies has yet to come.

The company said, all courses, which it offered in Brazil would be in line with the Brazilian university programmes.

Trivitron ties knot with BioSystems

Trivitron ties knot with BioSystemsMedical technology products manufacturer Trivitron Group of Companies, has formed an alliance with BioSystems, Spain, to manufacture in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) reagents.

It should be noted that this is the third manufacturing joint venture for Trivitron in recent times. Earlier, the firm has signed joint ventures with Brandon Medical for making operation theatre bulbs and Aloka of Japan for portable ultrasound scanners.
