Siemens quits Fujitsu computing joint venture

SiemensMunich - German electronics company Siemens AG Tuesday finalized plans to quit computer producer Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

Joint venture partner Fujitsu will take over Siemens' 50-per-cent share for a price of 450 million euros (567 million dollars), the company formally announced.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers was founded in 1999 to integrate the firms9 personal computer and server businesses in Europe. The joint-venture contract was due to run out next year.

ABG Shipyard wins order worth Rs 2377 crore

ABG Shipyard wins order worth Rs 2377 croreABG Shipyard, the largest private yard in India, has secured an order worth Rs 2,377.41 crore (480 million US dollar) from Essar Oilfields Services Ltd, Mauritius for building two rigs.

These Rigs will have the operating capacity of up to 350 ft. Water Depth and a drilling depth capacity of 30,000 ft. In addition, these rigs are designed for year - round Gulf of Mexico and 50-year return period North Sea environment in accordance with American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) assessment criteria.

HCL Infosystems gets multi-year contract from Delhi Police

HCL Infosystems LtdHCL Infosystems, India's premier information enabler and leading ICT System Integrator, has received a multi-year contract from Delhi Police to provide solutions and technologies that would enable the police force to access automated information.

The company quoted that it has modernized the police control room through ICT as part of the contract.

The control room consists of multimedia contact centre, and has the ability to track all PCR vans fitted with GPS devices and to coordinate their movements.

Ispat Energy plans to invest Rs 1000 crore for producing Bio-CNG

Ispat Industries LtdIspat Energy Ltd, a part of Ispat Industries Ltd, is planning an investment worth Rs 1,000 crore in the current fiscal, for producing bio-CNG from pressmud, a byproduct of sugarcane processing.

The gas produced can be used as a fuel for transportation and industrial applications.

According to the source, the company has showed it’s willing to work with 20 sugar mills in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh for producing bio-CNG.

The firm has decided to invest Rs 35 crore in a bio-CNG facility for Warna Sugar Ltd, Maharashtra.

LIC to open new representative office in Singapore

Life Insurance Corporation of IndiaLife Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the largest insurance organizations in the country is all set to open a representative office in Singapore next month.

According to the source, the upcoming office will initially explore opportunity for selling insurance products to the people of Indian origin.

Additionally, the insurance giant is also planning to expand its footprints into Australia and New Zealand. At present, LIC has international operations in seven countries - UK, Mauritius, Fiji, Nepal, Gulf, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
