Lahore, Jan. 25 : Shocked after suffering his worst ever defeat in one day internationals, Pakistan cricket captain, Shoaib Malik has admitted that his team failed in all departments of the game during the series against Sri Lanka.

Malik said losing the home series was a big disappointment for him.

"It is not an encouraging result, of course, it is a disappointment as we flopped in batting and bowling and it was not that kind of the performance and result I was looking forward," he said at his post match press conference on Saturday.

Sydney, Jan. 25 : Former Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has described being a finalist for this year''s Australian of the Year as a "huge honour".

The NSW Australian of the Year said he was just trying to get through his life and make the most of it in the same way as anyone would.

"To be acknowledged in this way, it''s something very special. I''m sure there''s a lot of other people out there who probably deserve it more than me," Fox Sports quoted him, as saying.

London, Jan. 25 : Former England pace bowler Devon Malcolm believes Steve Harmison can regain his form against the West Indies during the current tour.

The Daily Star quoted Malcolm as saying: "To get him firing, Steve needs to prove he has completed his rehabilitation. Going back to the Caribbean, with the memories he has of the place, will have a good and positive effect on him."

London, Jan. 25 : Opener Alastair Cook has been named the vice-captain of the England Test cricket team for the Caribbean tour, suggesting that the England and Wales Cricket Board sees him as future captaincy material.

Essex batsman Cook, 24, has been chosen over the more experienced former one-day skipper Paul Collingwood. Collingwood is likely to be Strauss''s deputy in the one-dayers.

The final day-night international against Pakistan on Saturday saw Sri Lanka making 309 for 5 wickets with the help of makeshift opener Tillakaratne Dilshan, who struck a career-best hundred.

Dilshan, who is 32-years-old, impressed the onlookers when he made 132 runs for his second one-day hundred and shared in three important partnerships. Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat on a docile Gaddafi Stadium pitch.

It has been recently learnt that 10% of the Indian Premier League earnings of England stars Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff would be donated to their respective counties Hampshire and Lancashire.

The agreement was arrived when the two players were permitted a three-week window for this year's IPL, which means they will miss the start of the county season.
