Mumbai-based Valecha Engineering Ltd has informed that it has picked new projects worth Rs 136 crores which includes road resurfacing of runway at Srinagar worth Rs 71 crores and construction of under pass connecting to Dwarka at Delhi worth Rs 65 crores.

Further the company stated in a separate announcement that its Middle-East operations are also progressing well and recently the company has formed a wholly owned subsidiary in the name of Valecha International FZE at Sharjah in UAE.

Valecha Engineering Limited operates as a construction and infrastructure company primarily in India.

New Delhi, Apr 7 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday promised that if the Congress was voted to power, the party will set up a war room headed by Cabinet Secretary to deal with terror.

Addressing a press conference here today, Chidambaram said the war room would be a part of the permanent crisis management group.

Claiming that the Congress is the only party that can deal with the terror surge squarely and decisively, Chidambaram said the war room would function as a 24-hour watch post.

New Delhi, April 7 : An agitated journalist of the Dainik Jagran threw a shoe at Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram during a press conference at the Congress headquarters here on Tuesday.

Jarnail Singh, an accredited correspondent, asked Chidambaram to explain the clean chit given to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 Sikh riots by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Chidambaram refused to answer and said that he did not want to make any political statement at a platform not meant for it.

New Delhi - A Sikh journalist hurled a shoe at India's security minister during a press conference on Tuesday after getting angry at a reply to a question about the
1984 riots in which scores of Sikhs were killed.

There was high drama at the conference after the shoe missed Palaniappan Chidambaram, who deftly leaned back to avoid being hit.

"Please take him away," a smiling Chidambaram told security guards. "It doesn't matter."
