New Delhi, Feb. 27 : The Union Home Minister, Palaniappan Chidambaram, on Thursday said that the dossier provided to Pakistan by India is an authentic document and sound in its analysis.

"After the operation, she (Pinki) becomes a normal girl, her fate has changed. Now she wants to be a doctor and wants to perform lip-cleft surgery on other patients suffering from cleft lip problem," Pinki's father Rajender Sonkar said, while talking to media.

New Delhi, Feb 27 : Union Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury would organize a Conference of State Ministers in charge of women and child development on Saturday to discuss women and child related issues.

The representatives of the National Commission for Women (NCW), National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), National Institute for Public Cooperation and Child Development (NIPCCD), Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) and Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) and Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK) would also attend the conference.

New Delhi, Feb 27 : Union Minister for Science and Technology Kapil Sibal on Friday said the government was making all efforts to encourage development and commercialization of inventions and innovations in the field of scientific research.

"Inventions and innovations are essential for the country's economic development. The Central Government is making all efforts to encourage commercialization in the field of scientific research," Sibal told media persons here.

New Delhi, Feb 27 : The Delhi High Court on Friday deferred hearing on a petition filed by the Supreme Court challenging a Central Information Commission (CIC) order directing that assets of the judges should be made public.

Justice S. Ravinder Bhat adjourned the matter and posted it for further hearing on March 17.

The Supreme Court in its affidavit had said declaration of assets by its judges to the Chief Justice is "personal" information, which cannot be revealed under the Right to Information Act.

New Delhi - A sharp slowdown in the Indian economy was evident Friday when official data showed growth at 5.3 per cent in the October-to-December quarter, the slowest quarterly growth in almost six years.

The figure was a substantial decrease from the 8.9-per-cent expansion recorded in the same period the previous year as the global economic crisis cut demand and exports.
