President Patil releases special postage stamp on GAIL’s Silver Jubilee

Gas Authority of IndiaNew Delhi, Nov 19 : President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Wednesday released a special commemorative postage stamp on GAIL to mark the Silver Jubilee Year of the company.

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Murli Deora, Minister of Communications and IT A. Raja, Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha Patel, Petroleum Secretary R. S. Pandey and CMD GAIL U. D. Choubey were present on the occasion along with other senior officers of the Petroleum Ministry and GAIL.

India’s tour to Pakistan not yet confirmed

BCCI To Move SCNew Delhi, Nov 19 : India’s Test tour of Pakistan, which is scheduled to take place early next year, is not confirmed until it is cleared by the government.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has sought security clearance from the government to go ahead with the tour, BCCI president Shashank Manohar told reporters here.

“The tour will be finalised once we get the clearance from the government. Nothing can be confirmed before that,” said Manohar.

India, China will increasingly rely on oil imports by 2030

Anand Sharma to open seminar on India engaging with a resurgent Africa

New Delhi, Nov. 19 : Six months after India held its first summit with African leaders, an international conference is being organised in Delhi from Thursday (Nov. 20) to take a closer look at Africa''s economic resurgence, its increasing presence in global affairs and the patterns and impact of the political and economic engagement of external powers in African affairs.

The Minister of State for External Affairs, Anand Sharma, will inaugurate the two-day conference with the theme "Engaging with resurgent Africa", organised jointly by Observer Research Foundation (ORF), a Delhi-headquartered public policy think tank, and Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung (RLS), a leading think tank of Germany, an ORF press release said.
