New Delhi - Egypt and India have decided to rekindle old ties in tune with contemporary realities, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Tuesday after delegation-level talks with visiting President Hosni Mubarak.
The two countries agreed to establish a strategic dialogue at the foreign ministry level. Six agreements on issues ranging from trade to outer space were signed in the presence of the two leaders.
In a joint statement, Singh and Mubarak described their wide-ranging talks on terrorism, energy security, economic ties and food and energy security as "extremely productive and fruitful."
New Delhi, Nov 19: The Indian Navy Warship, INS Tabar, armed with supersonic BrahMos (PJ-10) anti-ship cruise missiles, sank a pirate vessel off the Somali coast after an exchange of fire on Tuesday evening. This is second successful operation of the naval ship against the pirates in Gulf of Aden within a week. 
The UPA Government, with support of the Union finance ministry, is closely watching the ever changing financial market conditions and is concerned over the tight economic conditions. Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who himself is an eminent economist, reviewed the economic situation with key government functionaries and ministers. PM sought information on measures taken by the government to ease liquidity conditions in the financial system. Earlier, Dr. Singh had formed a penal of senior officials to keep vigil on the changing market conditions.

New Delhi - Europe's largest car maker Volkswagen said Tuesday it would go ahead with its investment plans in India and was optimistic that car sales would pick up, news reports said.
