Internet addiction is now a clinical disorder

New Delhi, Nov 10 : Feeling irritated because you can’t access the Internet? Well, may be it’s time to seek medical help as Internet addiction is now considered a clinical disorder rather than a bad habit, according to a new Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) diagnostic manual approved over the weekend by psychologists.

The two major symptoms of IAD are lingering online for more than six hours a day instead of working or studying and having adverse reactions from not being able to get online, reports China Daily.

According to the manual, IAD sufferers usually engage in five main activities – Online gaming, net pornography, excessive involvement in virtual social networking, too much Internet shopping and general cyber-surfing.

Indian Muslim scholars' league endorses fatwa against terrorismNew Delhi - More than 6,000 high-ranking Muslim scholars and clerics from across India have put their name to a joint religious opinion, or fatwa, against terrorism issued by one of the world's most important centres of Islamic teaching, it emerged on Sunday.

The Darul Uloom in Deoband, north of Delhi, issued a fatwa on May 31 sharply condemning terrorist violence. Since then 6,000 scholars and clerics have endorsed the fatwa.

Manmohan Singh yet to receive courtesy call from ObamaNew Delhi/Chicago, Nov. 9 : Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is yet to receive a call from U. S. president-elect Barack Obama.

According to sources, officialdom in New Delhi is concerned that Obama has put Dr. Singh low on the list of world leaders he has telephoned since Thursday, though congratulatory messages have been sent by President Pratibha Patil and Dr. Singh soon after Obama won the race for the White House on November 4.

So far, Obama has spoken to 15 world leaders, including Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari.
