Two-day Governors'' conference to begin today

New Delhi, Sept. 16 :President Pratibha Patil President Pratibha Patil will preside over the Conference of Governors here today.

28 Governors and three Lieutenant Governors of the States and Union Territories will attend the Conference.

Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Defence Minister A. K Antony, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh, Agriculture and Consumer Affairs Minister Sharad Pawar will also attend the conference.

French Minister of State for Foreign Trade coming on a two-day to visitNew Delhi, Sept 15 : French Minister of State for Foreign Trade Anne-Marie Idrac would be visiting India for two-days from Tuesday.

This visit will be made in the perspective of the forthcoming European Union-India and the France-India summits to be held on September 29-30, as well as in a follow-up of the State visit to India made by the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy in January this year.

Bihar needs 25000 crore rupees for rehabilitation workNew Delhi, Sept 15 : The Chairman of Special Task force on Bihar Dr. S C Jha today said that flood affected districts of the States need an assistance of 25000 crore rupees for rehabilitation work.

While addressing a press conference in New Delhi he said, “In addition to Central assistance, the State also requires help from international donors like World Bank and Asian Development Bank.”

Dr. Jha said flood has affected about three million people in the state and extensive efforts are required to rebuild the region.

India charges Pakistan involvement in Delhi blasts New Delhi - India's Defence Minister AK Antony on Monday suggested that neighbouring Pakistan may have backed the militants responsible for multiple bombings in New Delhi over the weekend that killed 24 people.

Nearly a 100 people were injured when five bombs exploded in crowded market and commercial areas in New Delhi on Saturday evening.

"Militants are getting support from across the border and it's a fact," Antony told reporters in New Delhi responding to a question about possible Pakistani involvement in the blasts.
