Mumbai attack: Pak must deliver, stop pointing to red herrings

Anand SharmaNew Delhi, Feb. 6, : Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said on Friday that Pakistan must stop pointing to red herrings and drawing attention away from the central issue of action against those responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks.

Reacting to reports from Pakistan's investigators that Bangladesh based terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jihad-al Islami (HuJI) could be connected to the Mumbai attacks, Sharma said, "Pakistan must stop obfuscations, deflections and pointing to red herrings. There has to be a demonstrated action against the organization and individuals that have been named."

NCW rejects report on Mangalore pub attack

National Commission for Women New Delhi, Feb 6, : The National Commission for Women (NCW) on Friday decided not to accept the report filed by its member Nirmala Venkatesh on the Mangalore pub attacks.

However, Venkatesh has said that she stands by her report on the pub assault.

NCW chairperson Girija Vyas held a meeting here on Friday and took stock of the entire report and decided not to accept it.

The Commission will not send a fresh team to Mangalore as an independent commission from the Women and Child Development Ministry has already visited there.

UN should ensure Pakistan ends terrorism, India says

India's External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said he apprised the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday about the details of investigations into the November attacks which were carried out by elements based in Pakistan.

Forty children awarded for exceptional achievements
