At least 15 killed in highway accident in western India

IndiaNew Delhi  -  At least 15 people were killed when the jeep they were travelling in collided with a tanker in India's western city of Mumbai on Sunday, police said.

Three other passengers were injured in the accident that occurred on a highway in the city's Navi Mumbai area.

"The victims included 10 women, three children and two men. They were part of a group from the western Satara district who were coming to attend a wedding function in Mumbai," inspector R Patil said.

The injured were admitted to a local hospital, he added.
