New Delhi, Dec 20 : Vice President Hamid Ansari today presented ICSI Life Time Achievement Award for Excellence and Corporate Governance to Dr. E. Sreedharan, CMD of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC).

The Awards for Excellent Company Secretary were received by to Usha T. N. of Mindtree Ltd and Narayan Shankar of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.

Speaking on the occasion, Ansari said the globalisation extends to the darker niches of our economy, polity and society.

New Delhi, Dec. 20 : A group of Sanskrit scholars are holding a sit-in protest against the Delhi University authorities in the north campus near Gwyer''s Hall to highlight, what they allege, discriminatory policies of the university.

Some of these students hold Master of Philosophy (M. Phil) degrees. They are agitated, as they are not being allowed to pursue Ph. D from Delhi University due to what they say "obsolete rules which give the concerned departments the right to act as per their discretion".

New Delhi, Dec 20 : A Chinese woman who posted her sex film on the Internet has been detained, said public security bureau officials.

The woman, surnamed Huang, has been detained for spreading pornography online, reports the China Daily.

The 12-minute video under the title "Kappa girl at Shanghai No 1 Department Store''s east building" features her performing sex acts.

It soon became one of the most popular downloads on the mainland, with thousands of people downloading it last month, the bureau said.

New Delhi, Dec 20 : The `Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' actress Zhang Ziyi has topped the list of 50 "most beautiful people in China."

The fourth annual event was organized by The Beijing News, which announced the result in its Friday edition, reports the China Daily.

Zhang, who starred in `Memoirs of a Geisha', was at the top partly because she organized an overseas fund drive for survivors of the May 12 Sichuan earthquake while attending the Cannes Film Festival, said judge Hai Yan, a playwright and TV producer.

New Delhi, Dec 20 : Defence Minister AK Antony today asked the Coast Guard to lease or hire ships from the global market in the quickest possible time to meet shortages and augment the coastal security.

The Defence Minister reviewed in detail all aspects relating to coastal security at a high-level meeting here attended by Defence Secretary Vijay Singh, Director General of Coast Guard Vice Admiral Anil Chopra and Director General Acquisition SK Sharma.

Approval has been accorded for global acquisition of cutting-edge equipment and interceptor boats on a fast-track basis, a high-ranking official in the Defence Ministry said.
