Computer facilities provided in 2760 police stations, says Shakeel Ahmad

police stationsNew Delhi, Feb 17 : Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Dr. Shakeel Ahmad today said that the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) project has been conceptualized in the Ministry of Home Affairs to provide computer facility with internet to all police stations in the country.

In written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Ahmad said, "Rs. 2000 crore has been allocated by Planning Commission for the said purposes during the Eleventh Five Year Plan."

The project is at initial stage of necessary approvals and provisions have been made year-wise and component-wise in the project report.

Indian police file charges against 21 men for serial blasts

Maharashtra MapNew Delhi - The Mumbai police filed charges Tuesday against 21 members of the Indian Mujahideen (IM) group, accusing them of plotting and carrying out blasts over the past three years including the 2008 bombings in Bangalore, Ahmedabad and New Delhi, news reports said.

The men, including three computer professionals, have been charged under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act, IANS news agency reported.

Mumbai terror attack charge-sheet to be filed soon: Chidambaram

P. ChidambaramNew Delhi, Feb 17 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said that Maharashtra Police has completed its investigations into the Mumbai terror attacks and a charge-sheet will be filed soon.

"The police investigation has been completed and the charge-sheets will be filed soon," Chidambaram said while replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha.

The Minister rejected suggestions to refer the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
