Police releases sketches of Delhi blasts suspectsNew Delhi, Sept 16 : Delhi Police today released five sketches of three persons suspected to have planted the bombs in the national capital on Saturday leading to serial blasts.

Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat told media persons, "We appeal to the people to inform police if they happen to find those resembling to these sketches. Informer''s identity will be kept secret."

NSG waiver opens way for Indo-French nuke deal

NSG IndiaNew Delhi, Sep 16 : France on Tuesday said the Nuclear Suppliers Group''s waiver to India for conduct of nuclear commerce makes it possible for the two to sign a bilateral trade agreement in this area.

Describing the NSG waiver to India as a "historic achievement," French Minister of State for External Trade Anne Marie Idrac said here that "it opens the way for signing of the bilateral agreement, which was concluded during visit of President Sarkozy in January."

Moily recommends need for a comprehensive anti terrorist legislation

Veerapa MoilyNew Delhi, Sep 16 : The second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) led by Veerapa Moily today recommended the need for a comprehensive anti-terrorist legislation and establishment of a federal agency to investigate acts of terror in the country.

“A comprehensive and effective legal framework to deal with all aspects of terrorism needs to be enacted. The law should have adequate safeguards to prevent its misuse,” the ARC report said.

Lt. General Chandele gets Eminent Engineer of the Year award

New Delhi, Sept 16 : Lieutenant General AKS Chandele the Director General of Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers and the Colonel Commandant was today conferred the prestigious “Eminent Engineer Award 2008” by the Institution of Engineers (India) on the occasion of 41st Engineers Day.

The ceremony took place at the ‘Engineers Bhawan’ with participation from the Railways, Defence and other public and private sector enterprises.

While speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General AKS Chandele stated that Army has made immense contribution in the preservation of environment.

He further said that the Corps of EME has been nominated as nodal agency to monitor the phasing out of Ozone Depleting Systems being used in the Army.

Government to issue guidelines to Internet service providers

Wifi NetworkNew Delhi, Sep 16 : The Union Government is planning to issue guidelines to Internet service providers to secure wireless fidelity (WiFi) networks so that terrorists do not use it to send threatening e-mails.

“We are always in constant talks with the Department of Telecom on security issues. We might take some action soon,” Department of Information Technology Special Secretary R Chandrashekar said.

The move comes on the heels of a group called Indian Mujahideen using an unprotected WiFi network to send emails almost at the same time of the serial blasts in Ahmedabad and Delhi.

Moily-led commission recommends federal agency to counter terrorism

New Delhi, Sept 16 : The second Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) on Tuesday recommended the establishment of a federal agency to investigate acts of terror in the country and comprehensive anti-terror legislations.

The ARC in its eight report also said that no person accused of an offence punishable under the National Security Act (NSA) should be released on bail.

ARC chairman M Veerappa Moily, while releasing the report, told reporters on Tuesday that the commission was of the view that a federal agency was necessary to investigate terrorist offences.

"The Administrative Reforms Commission recommends comprehensive anti-terror legislations," said Moily.
