New Delhi, July 22: While politicians are debating the Indo-US nuclear deal inside Parliament, makeshift studios have sprung up outside on its lush green lawns as frenzied media personnel zip around to get the best out of the unfolding situation.

All possible arrangements have been made to cover the crucial trust vote by around 50 news channels and if not more than an equal number of newspapers and magazines.

Supreme Court refuses to adjourn Sethusamudram project hearingNew Delhi, July 22: The Supreme Court today rejected a suggestion to adjourn the hearing on the Sethusamudram project on the grounds that the Government is seeking a trust vote in Parliament.

Refusing the plea of an anti-project petitioner, a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said: "How are we concerned with the trust motion. This court is only concerned with judicial matters."

The anti-project petitioner wanted the apex court bench to postpone the hearing for three weeks.

Speaker suspends Lok Sabha debate following opposition ire

New Delhi, July 22 : Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath ChatterjeeLok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was forced to adjourn proceedings in the Lower House on the second and final day of a special session called to discuss and vote on a confidence motion moved by the UPA Government, after the opposition stalled proceedings.

Chatterjee took the decision to suspend proceedings till 2 p. m. after opposition Members repeatedly disrupted attempts by Congress MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi''s speech in the House.

P. Chidambaram says Hyde Act not binding on India

New Delhi, July22 : P. Chidambaram says Hyde Act not binding on IndiaOn the second day of the debate in the Lok Sabha over the Government’s trust vote, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said that the Hyde Act, passed by the US Congress to enable nuclear commerce with India, was a domestic law in that country and had no binding on India.

Chidambaram also stressed the need for nuclear power.

Second day’s debate on confidence vote begins in Lok Sabha

New Delhi, July 22: The second day’s debate over the trust vote began in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government will face the trust vote in the Lok Sabha later in the day.

Ahead of the trust vote, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh reiterated that his UPA Government would win.

"I am confident that the government will win the trust vote," he told media persons.

Rashtriya Janata Dal Leader and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is confident that the UPA Government will win the trust vote today.

The Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament Somabhai Patel has said that he will vote for the UPA in the trust vote later this evening.

New Delhi, July 22 : Amar Singh accuses Mayawati of "kidnapping" six SP MPsSamajwadi Party (SP) leader Amar Singh today blamed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of "kidnapping" six MPs of his party.

Speaking to reporters, Amar Singh claimed that Mayawati has forcibly kept six MPs of his party inside Uttar Pradesh Bhavan.

Commenting on the issue of MPs, who were being poached to muster the required strength to save the government, he alleged, "It is Mayawati who is trying to split parties by poaching MPs."
